Realty numbers see a sharp decline

The number of properties sold in Prince Rupert in 2008 dropped by more than 100 compared to the number sold in 2007, according to year-end figures released by the Northern B.C. Real Estate Board on January 7.

A total of 152 properties were sold in 2008, down from the 257 sold in 2007. The value of the properties sold also dropped significantly, falling from $44.71 million in 2007 to just $28.51 million in 2008. Half of the 109 single family homes sold in 2008 sold for less than $173,500 while the average selling price for these homes was $186,511.
