I see there cleaning the lot next to park ave store.i hear that
its a beer and wine store.
…as if Rupert needs more of them ![]()
A beer n wine in the hood bad idea…yeah as if we need another 1 in this town which is already full of so many wino’s
Yeah, that’s old news! Heard that was coming in last year but at least the winos won’t be far from the flop house that is Raffles ![]()
Why do we not look into bringing in an Opium Den so that way nobody can be left out and we can just grow to be a bunch of screwed up citizens. We do not need another f/n watering hole. We need real businesses and jobs. There are far too many drug dealers , watering holes and Blind Pigs.
it’ll help out park ave stores business.
There is a real ‘need’ in the area for a beer and wine store.
Anchor Inn does not do off sales .
This way it’s easy access for the area.
and what do you propose for a real business? beer&wine is a proven money maker in rupert. Given the option I’d take it over a more risky ‘real business’
So what should we do then? All the closed businesses along 3rd. can be re-opened as Beer and Wine as they are a “proven money-maker”? As far as there being a need, easy access, so that means then that the eastside up around Crestview and that area should open one also as they are “far” from the nearest one on 11th.? This is bullshit, this town is going to hell in a hand basket and the only businesses Council will OK are the booze related ones. ![]()
the cold beer and wine stores don’t force the stuff down peoples throats .
its a drive thru tim hortons
I have no problem with the beer and wine stores, free will and all of that, if there was no demand there would be no supply, sad as that is to say.
I do think however that they should be taxed by the city at a higher rate, with that money split between social services and law enforcement since those two plus health care are the three sectors of our society that deal with the fall out from over indulgence and such.
That in itself might stem the rather profligate expansion of alcohol related business ops in a town that otherwise seems inclined to go out of business
I think there eyeing the longshoremen, they have lots of money they
love to drink and they drive by it everyday.
I have also heard that it is going to be some sort of fast food with a drive thru…I know who ever owned that plot of land before was going to build a A&W with drive thru and blasted the rock and cleared a lot of the bush from there, but those plans fell through (like they always do).
Assumptions and stereotyping? (and no, that doesn’t mean typing with both hands AJ)
lots of people like to drink. you dont think the hundreds of people who live on that side of town wouldnt want it?
What we really need is a late night/early morning fried chicken & waffle stand.
and who’s fault is it that the town is going to hell in a hand basket? I’d venture a guess and say its not the fucking cold beer and wine stores. If anything its the citizens and the business owners causing the decay of the town.
Most of the businesses that shutdown likely had shitty service or overpriced merchandise. If you want to risk your money trying a new idea go ahead but take those empty storefronts as the warning sign that they are. There is not a lot of money to be had in retail anymore walmart has seen to that.
well the bars are dying anyway so there will be an increase to house party’s!!!It’s cheaper and u can smoke if u want and u can pass out if u want!!!I understand the point of serving it right but that has made bars and clubs boring.High prices and too many rules. When in-forced in ur bar no one wants to be there.they spend a bunch of money then get kicked out.If u don’t inforce it the liquor board can shut u down. That being said that is why the business is now going to the cold beer & wine stores.Anyone under the age of 45 drink at home then looks for place to dance and have fun.I don’t drink at all anymore at the age of 37 because the good times are gone. Bar hooping gone.House party and outdoor party’s here we come!!!
As far as business not working here is our fault as a community!!!We want big box,big city things because we don’t have them.We say the prices are to high>U haven’t been to van or kelowna or pg lately have ya.Walk in to walmart and $300 dollars down the tubes because we are brainwashed into believing we are getting a deal. It’s not until we get home ,then we realize we were drugged. We pay way more for everything we buy in terrace.Add the gas and lunch and it’s way more then we would have paid here. The biggest problem i see is Zellers doesn’t want to fix this store HBC won’t put money into it and sends this store crap.McDonalds also won’t renovate or add a playground and that’s big city big box???So next time your going shopping, just go alittle further to smithers or pg and check out their zellers and McDonalds.
