environmantally friendly biodegradable poop bags. I think they’re in cow bay…
That I can deal with, but what if I didn’t walk with my dog in Cow bay? What then?
In the gift galley - you can buy them with a leash attachment thingy, I got one as a gift…i think it came from there
Hmm, I didn’t see them in there last time I was there. Maybe Homeworks.
The pet store probably sells something like that . . .
It’s poop, as long as it is not in the sidewalk or obviously someone else property what is the big deal?. Next thing you know deer turds and bird poop will be the next hot topic. Or carry around a shamwo(however it is spelled) to wipe up urine.
The main contention here is dog crap on sidewalks and in parks where children and adults play. It just makes me sick sometimes when I go to Kwinitsa park and see all the deposits on the lawn with children relegated to playing on the concrete.
I agree I should have added the playground as a place for NO dog poop, that is gross.
curiosity got me… so what do you use to pick up the pooch poop ?
my dogs are very well behaved and rarely if ever bark…at least until recently.
My neighbors have acquired a lovely dog that is off leash and he wanders over to our fence and my dogs will bark at him. I immediately bring them in the house when this happens. The bigger problem tho is the ppl that live down the road and walk along my fenceline with their dog off leash who ‘fence fights’ with my dogs causing mine to go insane and bark and growl and generally go crazy. The owner of the dog thinks this is rather entertaining and I have told him it breeds aggression and to please not do it.
But the answer to a barking dog should always be the same. Bring them in your home. Dont shock them, dont induce high frequency noises that,if you think about it, must hurt them the same as it would you. Just bring the damn dog in the house.
as for biodegradable poop bags. Ive found that most dog poop bags are these days.
as for the dog park. I still say doug kerr field. Charge a yearly fee. Put a lock on it. Pays for itself.
I live in Port Edward. And though it is nice and quiet out there, for the most part, there is one neighbor behind me that keeps their dog outside all day, and sometimes late at night… the dog will not shut up!!! it’s constant barking. and the neighbor will not do anything about it. he leaves the dog out there and doesn’t bother trying to get it to stop barking. any tips about how to get the neighbor to at least try with their dog?
I have a 6 month old pomaranian chihuahua and just recently bought a spray bottle. he’s a feisty little thing that just started sitting on the back of the sofa to see out the window. well, he started barking at some people walking past the house, and at the deer that like to eat in our yard. And i have to say, the spray bottle is working out well. When he barks, he looks over at us 'cause he knows what’s coming… so he hops off the couch. He’s barking less often now. But one thing that really concerns me is what i’m teaching him… he knows not to bark at people now, only when there’s a knock at the door… but I want to know if anyone has tips on how to teach a puppy to “talk” when they need to go outside… he’s not at that point yet. we’ve thought we had him trained to wait and “go” outside… but he relapses and has accidents in the house after a few weeks…
any help at all for puppy training would be helpful
as for the neighbors barking dog… the next best step would probably be do call the district office…?
I believe bladder control for a dog takes a while, my dog would prompt us that she needed to pee then when we started to let her out she would piddle, over time it went away. A friend of ours had a small dog and hung a bell low to the floor from the door knob and the dog would bump it when it needed to go out, almost instinctual. Treats were offered for encouragement, I will see if it still uses the bell.
Our dog goes to the door and bumps the knob with it’s nose, that is how we know now. She will mill around the door from time to time, but when she has to pee/poo she bumps the knob. And I take her to the sidewalk,HAHA. Kidding.
You’re not training the dog, the dog is training you. If you take the pup out at certian times, and wait for it to pee, and then praise it. It will get the picture.
“go pee… good boy, good pee”
Eventually it will figure out it gets praise for peeing outside, and find a way to let you know it wants to go out.
our dog sits and stairs at me by the door ,it knows from the rolled up news paper days that its only option lies through the door when nature calls.
For walking the dog ,I used a collar with reverse spikes so when you gave a jerk and said heal in a low voice on the leash it would bite into the dogs neck and produce discomfort for the dog.I only used it for 3 days and the dog learned not to pull and walk right beside my leg …no leash at all.All her commands are done by hand when in site .When she was young and would bite i would bite her back or if she would bite my hand i would pinch her lip hard enough to cause her pain, and say no in a quite voice
You must rule the dog or it will you ! it will not respect you and be out of control, causing you grief and possibly your neighbours as well.
And of course praising all the commands that your dog performs,is a must.food works well like a treat when the dog comes right back after doing its business is fine i think
So reading your previous posts, you have trained your dog but cinching its’ neck with a reverse spike collar, bit her when she bit you, prviously used a rolled up newspaper. Basically, caused her pain and discomfort. Does this dog respect you or fear you? Nice way to train your dog
We get along like two pee’s in a pod,She does not fear me ,she obeys me .I think If you own a large breed ,you had better have control of the animal or not have it at all!
