Does anyone know what kind of gun the RCMP uses and perhaps a site that discusses equipment that RCMP carry?

Most Guns are 9mm
here is a list of guns that have been used in the past
308 rifles,MP5, H&K sub-machine guns.

If it really gets out of hand, they just call all the Bad Ass Backups and go and kick the shit out of you. That way they could save bullets too and rocks for the sling. :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, the RCMP standard issue sidearm is a Smith & Wesson Model 910 , with a 10 round magazine and the 4" barrel.

I work for the Sheriffs office and we use the same pistol as the RCMP. In fact, the pistols we were issued were the ones they took away from the RCMP Auxilliary constables. They had RCMP engraved on them until we had it removed. Our pistols are the S&W model 5946. It’s a 9mm Double Action only pistol which uses 15 round magazines. Very nice pistol. Easy to shoot and easy to teach people to shoot with. (I’m one of the two firearms instructors in the North for the Sheriffs.)

In fact most of our gear is identical to thiers. We purchase our duty belts directly from them. We (they) also carry ASP expandable batons, OC spray and S&W handcuffs. We also use the same TASERS, but neither of us carry them as routine equipment.

Although I don’t know the exact model number, I know that they issue a 10 round version as thier plain clothes model. That might be the 910. I got a chance to shoot one once on an instructor development course at the Justice Institute. Smaller gun, but not as easy to shoot. The frame is made of a lightweight alloy that doesn’t absorb recoil as much and it really jumps around in your hand when you shoot it.

Hmm really. I know a guy that has like $100k in ammunition and firearms, he was telling me, I doubt that he was wrong, just that I wasnt really paying attention to him.

Its the S&W 5946, 15 rnd mag. The “small” gun for plain clothes and those challenged with small hands is the S&W 3953 with 8rnd mag.

Me is right, it is the S&W 5946, I just got mine four weeks ago. They made us name them, I called mine Alexis.

One thing I always thought from watching movies is that if you eject the magazine you can still fire the round in the chamber. These guns have a magazine safety so the magazine needs to be fully inserted.
