Questions for Mayor Pond and Council

I think this is an excelent question. My memory is a bit hazy, but I think I remeber seeing a sign that said $150 000 for a 2010 legacy project. Where did this money go?

cse.gov.bc.ca/ProgramsAndSer … ojects.htm

I have asked that same question before and is this not the second chunk of money for this project. But who is watching? Maybe Mr. Coons could ask that question on our behalf.

It says it was given to the rotary club ???

probably means we have to start a new forum. LOL

The attached was passed onto me by Janet Beil who originally sent the FOI request to the City of Prince Rupert in April of this year.

This is the official response from the city to Janet Beil. I believe Mr. Miller is referring to the presentation made by Ashley, Garon and myself wherein I asked for the Mayor’s assurance that the remaining missing documents including those on their internal email system be provided forthwith to Ms. Beil.

It stretches the imagination to believe that although councillors  received copies of Jane’t freedom of information request and the documents that were released, all copies of Ms. Beil’s original request and the original response have now disappeared.  The question that arises from this are many but I’ll just ask are we expected to swallow this?

At this point, it’s up to the ciitizens of PR to decide for themselves how transparent and open their elected officials are being.  (Click on the attached picture to make it open in a new window to make it readable)

They lost her FOIPPA request and don’t know what she asked for, or what they already gave her?

I think it’s time they hire someone to revamp their filing system.

No, Janet Beil is expected to print another copy of the original request off her computer and make a quick list of the documents that were already provided, after which it seems Mr. Miller would be happy to forward the other documents on to Janet Beil. Seems perfectly reasonable to me, and so do the steps City Hall is taking in response to the disappearance.

I have to give the “Universal” Eccentric credit, he is right, the proper thing would be to address questions to the Mayor and Council so that is precisely what I did with the questions about CityWest. I believe the citizens of Prince Rupert have a right to have the answers to these and other questions, even if it is an embarrassment to the current Mayor and all councilors who have served more than one term. It is after all their city and their money that is at stake here.

My thanks to Mr. Brown at CityWest for quoting my questions and correcting my use of Skeena Cable.  I’m interested in hearing from other taxpayers what their response is to the answers.

As before, click on the following graphics to display them in a more readable format.

Wilf, if you’d like, I can OCR those documents and just post the text versions.  Is that ok with you?

By all means, once up we can lose the graphic images which are hard to read. Thanks

You know, the wording of that document-

“mysteriously disappeared”

-is a trifle odd.

I can’t think of why anyone would have phrased it quite that way, at least in an official document, other than they were trying to pull attention to the disappearance. Most CAOs would have used something a little more obscure and put off the request while they hunted it down…

????? What the hell is going on up there???
