Provincial budget needs your input!

MLA encourages public participation in 2012 BC Budget tour…
WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES FOR PROGRAMS …HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR MONEY SPENT?

North Coast MLA Gary Coons is encouraging individuals and organizations to participate in the public hearing process for the 2012 budget. A finance committee began their tour earlier this week and will be making its way through the province over the next month.
Those who are interested can participate by attending a public hearing at one of 13 community locations or one of eight videoconference sessions. The list of public hearing locations, along with information on how to make a presentation, is available at leg.bc.ca/budgetconsultations/ The Committee is also accepting responses to an on-line survey and written or video submissions through their website.

There will be a video conference session in Prince Rupert on Wednesday, October 5th from 9:00 – 11:30 am, location TBA. Other communities in the North Coast (Haida Gwaii and Bella Coola area) will have to file a written submission or if they choose to make a presentation via video conference they can register to attend the Prince Rupert session.

The Committee is interested in hearing about what measures the government can take to help families, what programs and spending are your priorities, and how we can create jobs that future generations will depend on.

To register for the public hearing or video-conference sessions contact committee staff by phone 1-877-428-8337 or by email FinanceCommittee@leg.bc.ca

Deadline for written submissions is Friday, October 14, 2011. The Committee is required, by law, to report on the results of the consultation with British Columbians by Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
