Seniors in nursing homes are required to pay up to 80% of their income for services provided. Seniors taking in $1200 a month would pay almost $1000 a month leaving them about $60 a week for clothes, treats, gifts for family, haircuts, over the counter medication etc etc.
A prisoner certainly doesn’t deserve more than our seniors.

- The pension laws say you get X amount when you’re X years old. They don’t say you get it only if you’re a Class A citizen or not.
- Contrary to the bullshit being spewed, he doesn’t get more than a senior citizen, he gets the same.
There’s no way I’d support altering universal programs by instituting neo-con rules like you can’t have a criminal record, a pending charge, be a drug addict or have to pee in a cup to collect welfare, EI or pension. (We already have the pending charge BS in BC).
That being said, prisoners collecting pensions (seniors or disability) should be subject to having at least as much, maybe even more as one in long-term care clawed back. They too are being cared for.
So if I buy time now then I can or may apply for early CPP…Now do I get free shopping rewards for good behaviour?
