So I wonder how many businesses will round off to the lower price as opposed to the higher one? By rounding up instead of down, a business could add four cents a purchase every time, helping the bottom line over the course of time.
I could make hundreds of extra dollars every millennium… can’t wait.
Cue price adjustments now only $199.96
Hasn’t this eliminating the penny crap been “going to happen” for YEARS now?

If I understood one of the spokesmen tonight, there would be both rounding up and down on the final price. Sometimes we will gain a penny or two and sometimes we will lose a penny or two. Credit card and debit card transactions will not be rounded. I am guessing it will have minimal effect.
Get with the program. Businesses are mostly going to lower prices 4c. $99.99 will become $99.95
Because shoppers will continue to be sucked in that it’s better than a whole dollar amount. Really, I’ve run into many people who think $7 when it’s $7.99 instead of seeing $8
The Harper goverment has reached its mandate…To leave every Canadian penniless.
Let’s eliminate the nickel also. Then everything can be rounded off to the next decimal point.
Of course, we would only get $5 and $10 coins to replace them.
Oh well, just a thought.
