Third time’s the charm for school district 52, who after two previous last minute delays, witnessed the City’s adoption of a zoning amendment bylaw on February 23 that will allow them to go ahead with the opening of the Pacific Coast School.
The district first faced opposition from merchants in the Cow Bay area over choice of location in late January and then on February 9 had the decision over their second choice of location, on 2nd Avenue, postponed when the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure hinged their support of the bylaw on the condition that they enter into a covenant with the Ministry and the City to restrict any changes in the use of the property.
