Old Dairy Queen

I’d rather spend my money on good food in a nice place than some of the places you mentioned.  I used to like Peglegs but then the new owners totally changed the concept and menu and ruined it.  La Gondola is pretty disgusting and so is Pizza Hut.

I would like to see a nice place where one can get dolled up and go out, no brats!  Chances sucks cause of the noise of the casino, the horse races going on and the doors opening all the time with drafts of cig smoke.  It used to have a very good chef but i understand he was let go when they made the mistake of letting the wine girl go too…can’t remember her name, long red hair, she now runs Tall Trees.

Crest used to be good but i had a couple bad experiences, the last time i asked them to throw my steak back on the grill for a minute and they microwaved it…yuk…and then when we asked them about it the waitress got really rude with us…thank goodness Trevor in the lounge was cool and offered us something else.  I won’t go back for now.

Cu’s has no ambience even if the steak is good.  I want to go somewhere like the old Deseraiatas in Terrace…that chef is now at the Brownstone in Kamloops…nice fancy food for adults.
Something along the lines of a Earl’s would do ok though, get the younger crowd in.  Rain was good till Brian turned over the cooking to others and didnt often change up the menu but the atmosphere was the right one.

Andrea Pollack is her name, they treated her like shit and let her go like she did something wrong. The casino was a good spot to go I enjoyed there beef wellington among other things. Jordan Scott is a chef there now he seems to enjoy his trade maybe I will give it a chance, meeh. I have not been in since the fired the both of them the chef and Andrea. Chances is a shit hole corporation run by the scum of the earth, they can’t even pay there taxes even though they post huge profits. Shit, the vein in my head is growing time to move on.

I agree regarding the Crest Trevor and the other longue staff are wonderful, however for the most part the food sucks at the crest…  With Rain the menu was so limited and could not stand Brian so I never went much.  A young friend and I only went once towards the end after I had a couple of bad experiences there early on…   Yes Cus food is great but it sucks attmosphere wise… Yes bring us Earls or Milestones anyone of those to bring in the young and also have something different.  I only like Breakers and even they upset me recently so choices are limited for dinning…  give us change!!  Breakers and Bob on the Rocks are the only places I want to spend my money…  Bob on the Rocks fish and chips rock!

Not sure what you are ordering,  but I have never had a bad meal at the Crest.  Do you smoke,  missing half your toung???  Just kidding,  IMHO The food is awesome.

crest food is ok but i expecgt a lot for the reputation it has and the prices

I’ve always enjoyed eating in the Crest lounge but find it too pricey for more than a special-ish occasion…maybe once every two months? And the restaurant has not impressed me that the food (how much for an omelet!!!) or service (slow refills on coffee at breakfast, dirty utensils) is worth what is charged…same with Chances. Slow waitresses, burger specials that don’t include fries or even lettuce on the burger.

We’ve pretty much given up on eating dinners out in this town…the odd pub-style dinner at Breakers or the Rupert or the Crest or eat in or takeout with the whole family to the Hut or maybe Fairview. Or Mountain Boy chicken from Maverick Mart…

I like that chicken. Dirty bird.

No franchises in Rupert at all? Tony Romas, Keg, etc?
Coast Hotels elsewhere have pretty decent high-end restaurants. How about there?
Still planning our flash-thru-Terrace-so-fast-the-kids-don’t-notice trip out there this summer.

Um, maybe i should ask you.  I am well known among many friends as one of the best cooks they know and I love to cook and do ethnic food as well as just plain fancy food.  I don’t smoke and i don’t drink so I can taste the food just fine.  It’s boring, its badly done and its overpriced.  My tastebuds are wanting something more refined than the crap they offer up.  BUT, i am glad you like the Crest.

How about getting back to the original topic!

Everyone should get their heads out of the clouds Prince Rupert will NEVER!! get a Tony Roma’s, Keg, Earls, Milestones, DQ or any other kind like it. PR is scared of a lil competition, thats why you dont see any big names comming in to start a bussiness and if you all complain about eating out and no place to eat around here with good food, have you ever tried cooking at home? that will prob beat any meal you pay for around here…that’s if you know how to cook

True but we can hope for a decent Restaurant in this town…  everything is available in Terrce competiton wise…  Today is the last day for the daily news…  someone mentioned the idea of a regional airport in Terrace in another thread.  Maybe our airport should close next to save the cost of the ferry…  we had some of the restaurant chains in the past and 737s flying in and out of here.  If flying moves to Terrace jet service could come back…

If two guys washing windows and hosing off the sidewalk can generate so much speculation.
What would happen if they actually fixed the roof on that place and the absentee owner made some effort to rent it???

Then, after 12 months we’d have another business owner that would lose their shirt and another business closed.

Exactly I cannot see much new ever coming here, one can always hope but the business community is becoming smaller all the time…
