More allocation cuts recommended for Halibut fishery in 2010

The International Halibut Commission has outlined another year of cuts for 2010 to the halibut fishery, with reductions in catch allowances planned for all sectors of the Pacific coast fishery.

British Columbia’s cut will come to around 14 per cent of last years totals. The section of the Pacific coast known Area 2B, will feature catch limit recommendation that include totals for both the commercial and sport fisheries. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is to determine the allocation of the adopted catch limit between the sport and commercial fisheries…
