Michael Moore

So is Moore’s latest film going to get banned (or “not distributed”) in Canada as is happening in the US, the land of the free?

Michael Moore is a comedian, not a social activist.

I saw that the other day and wondered the same thing. I’d say not since Disney sounds like they own the rights and distribution to the movie. So if they dont want to distribute it they wont.

Unless Moore does own the film rights then he can take it through independent channels. LionsGate film is one.

Who did the distribution for Mel Gibsons film about Christ? It was indie too and wow did it do well…Mel made bundle on that one. All the studios that turned that one down are probably going Doh!

That might be, but I dont think his films are funny. They show some of the hypocrisy of America and the stupid shit that they do.

Bowling for Columbine was an amazing documentary. He did bushwhack Heston though and that was not pretty. Felt kinda sorry for Heston there.

Moore is funded by Canadian backers interstingly enough though.

Mel Gibson has his own studio, “Icon”, I dont believe he tried to shop his film around at all.

I think the question wouldnt have been raised as loudly if Moore had the ability to take the film elsewhere to be published…but I’m not sure.

Micheal Moore brings us the shit that they didn’t want us to know, (unless you read books and shit) lol

“Moore admits Disney ‘ban’ was a stunt”

Even Michael Moore isn’t above a little bit of lying in order to maximize profits

wtf i have never even heard of this guy… he must not be any good…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for a couple years (which by living in Rupert is pretty easy to do) then you have had to of heard about Bowling For Columbine. Michael Moore is the guy that made that movie, and is quite a political comedian.

oic … nooope not living under a rock…just have never heard of this guy… ohwell…

“Disney came under heavy criticism from conservatives last May after the disclosure that Miramax had agreed to finance the film when Icon Productions, Mel Gibson’s company, backed out.”

Comics can say things that diplomats can’t get away with. Of course a socially active comedian like Lenny Bruce sometimes didn’t get away with everything either.

Say, Eso, you wouldn’t say Lenny wasn’t a social activist would you? Why is Moore any different?

Moore is an author/filmaker/social activist. his primary goal is to make you think.
Lenny Bruce was a comic/social commentator whos primary goal was to make you laugh, making you think was secondary.

laughing at moore’s films can’t be helped because life itself is a often a joke…
Anyone ever see a fake 45rpm record made of cardbboard allegedly of Lenny Bruce called “Shoes are to keep dogshit off your feet”?
