Mayor's latest attack ad

If you want to know what Lee thinks why not ask him? Send him an email. One thing I’ll give him is that he seems to be very responsive to questions. While you are at it, send Jack an email and see if you get anything back.

I also suggest that you ask Nelson how he voted when staffing levels were cut a few years ago. As for suggestions that wages are going to be cut in a unionized workplace, that is absurd.[/quote]

This would require Jack using a computer. I believe the word “typewriter” is something he finds confusing and scary.

Well, now that you mention it I have heard that Jack does not know how to operate the start button, so getting an email back from him could be a problem.

Rumour has it, he asked Tony to help him punch it in, but instead Tony got hungry and the rest is well… dinner conversation!

Sometimes it’s best to move on from regrettable things said or done in the past, like Jack’s statement about kicking Shaun Thomas in the ass.

Mayor moustache does not know how to use a computer his secretary has to do all his emails :stuck_out_tongue:

Mayor Mussallem has come out with a couple more ad buys that break with his previous attack format. They can be found in this North Coast Review article that suggests that after taking a rather negative approach to “young Lee Brain” at the recent forum a more positive approach might be better received by the voting public: < northcoastreview.blogspot.ca/201 … wards.html >.

In the first ad featured in the article the Mayor takes credit for having “created” and then with the council “instigated” (probably not the best word choice) a number of initiatives.

At the top of the list is “Preparation of a Community Development Plan”. That’s a bit of an odd choice. The Community Development Plan was “created” by the council over which Herb Pond presided in 2007 with final approval on February 11, 2008. Some amendments were approved in 2010, during the Mayor’s previous term of office. Perhaps when claiming an accomplishment it’s best to just reference one’s own work and not roll in that of the previous Mayor.

After that is listed “Consideration by residents of a business opportunity on a portion of District Lot 444”.

There have been some terse reports from closed meetings, but residents have not been given an opportunity to consider in any meaningful sense whatever is happening there. That will not happen until there is a public information session on November 25 and a mandatory public hearing to consider zoning bylaw amendments on December 3rd and (if necessary) 4th. < northcoastreview.blogspot.ca/201 … ublic.html >.

Councillor Ashley asked that information about the rather shadowy Legacy Corporation be posted on the civic website, but when that will happen is not clear: < northcoastreview.blogspot.ca/201 … to-be.html >.

A couple of airport related accomplishments are listed. Perhaps the Airport Society board and its’ management and staff had something to do with those items.

There is then “Consideration of new marina development”. Perhaps that can be added to the accomplishments list when something has been decided.

Finally there is “Leasing of additional Cow Bay area for small business development”. Perhaps that refers to the Mayor’s suggestion at the Monday council meeting that the old railway bridge be leased out: < northcoastreview.blogspot.ca/201 … g-for.html >. It’s probably a bit premature to be putting that on the accomplishments list as well.

The other ad assures that the Mayor’s door is one door at City hall that is always open. A door that is open less frequently is the one to the council chambers.

That last claim is very questionable too. Jack has his calls AND emails screened by the admin assistant. He has her respond for him quite often. I know of several non-profit organizations that complain about his availability, pointing out that, whatever one thought of Herb Pond, he was very accessible, answered his own phone and attended most of their events.
