LCD vs PLASMA

I want to purchase a new TV in the next couple months. I want some feedback with peoples experience with both to help me out on my new purchase

Thanks

Generally what I know is plasa offers a little higher quality display, brighter picture and such. LCD typically are less problimatic and have a longer life on them, although the newer plasmas are getting great results. Its pretty much preference, I would ask the sales person you are consulting to throw a bluray on each of them and pick the one that to you looks the best! I prefer LCD.

The question has already been asked:

Such a stickler SOGGY,lol. They did cover every angle though.

Sorry didnt notice the ? was asked already

Hey don’t forget about the next wave, 3D TV, wait six months and watch the prices of LCD and Plasma tv’s drop drop drop

Now that should complicate your decision a bit eh :imp:

3D TV will never be a significant factor, in my opinion.  Nobody’s going to sit around the house wearing 3D glasses.

Just because it was big at CES doesn’t mean it’s going to be a hit.  I mean the Palm Pre was “best in show” at CES, and where is it now?  Nobody sells it, and Palm is nearly dead.

So don’t bet on 3D TVs taking the world by storm.

agree 100%, they don’t feel comfortable, and they are 250$ a pair, plus the blueray player is 500$ and the dvd’s are $$$$$$$

Who is going to go out and buy a few sets of 3D glasses so they can watch tv, or to have there dog/kid chew step on or break them!

people that seem to have no end to the money pit

Citywest sells the Palm Pre.

Exactly.

Let’s hope Citywest doesn’t jump on the 3D TV bandwagon too.

LOL, you beat me to the punch.

I tend to agree actually, the 3D thing is going to be a little ways off, at least until they can create the effect without the goofy glasses/

By then we’ll be watching hologram tv, where the subjects perform on your living room floor

Providing info is being a “stickler”? What kind of fish is that?

A pompus, know everything kinda fish. Lighten up man!.

Right back atcha!

Awe shucks thanks Soggy, I knew we could get along. I still sit there staring into a 40" behemoth tube TV, going on walks looking in windows of people with huge flat screens. I think I am going to loosen my purse strings and get a LCD, like some of the HTMF’ers have said plasma TVs get images burned into them(?). The other thread was helpfull, now where to buy?.

I just watched some 3D TV at the local store. It’s pretty cool - Now if I just had a spare $3400.

plasma doesnt get burnin .  it runs at a higher hz to prevent it its 600hz instead of 240 on lcd to prevent it

I know they my have answered it in the other thread, but when gaming plasma gets images burned into it when paused(?), Or is that a myth?. Because I do like plasma better they seem more crisp.

Even on an LCD tv, it says right in the manual, that if you leave a still image on it for 2 hours or more . it can burn an image to the screen.

I would like to know what differences the 2 have now because plasma has come along way and like somone said its running at 600 hz instead of 60hz for 720 p  or 120hz - 240 hz for the more expensive 1080 p tv’s in lcd
