Jerk at Zellers

The guy behind me in line today wins the prize for being ‘the jerk of the day’.  I was cashing out, he was next and commented, “you spend $60 and get charged for a bag?”  I said “not a deal, maybe next time I’ll remember my bags in the car.”  He had 6 small Coffee Mates and said “I’m spending $30 and better not be charged for a bag!”  The young fellow on the till explained it was store policy.  The jerk told him to page the manager, the clerk did, no call back.  This idiot kept badgering the clerk and told him he had 10 seconds to make a decision if he was giving a free bag or not.  A young girl behind the jerk handed the clerk a quarter and said she would gladly buy several bags for this ‘valued customer’.  The jerk turned multi shades of red and ran out of the store…with several customers laughing!

Thinking this is probably not the first time this ‘jerk’ has given a store employee a bad time…so he’s probably an a–hole as well!

Any more jerks out there?

i dont agree with being charged for bags but yea i pay for them if i have to.

When you work in retail you quickly lose count.

Any more jerks out there?

Why do we pay for bags anyways?  I don’t mind but when I have to guess how many i need it gets annoying.  I say just up the price of everything in the store by 1 cent

You really don’t get the concept of purchasing non-biodegradable plastic bags do you?  :unamused:

it can be recycled tho. if places charge for recycling it should go towards a recycling program in each community so we can finally catch up to other communities and start door to door pick ups

It’s like buying a coffee and having to pay for the cup! Seriously, the guys not a TOTAL ass, he’s obviously inconveniencing the staff as the store has inconvenienced him.

there already IS door to door pickup for recycling… :unamused:

yea as a business other towns simply add a little to taxes so everyone can do it . :unamused: :unamused:

I wouldn’t be suprised if they started doing that…[/quote]

Ssssssh, don’t give them any ideas now  :unamused:

this is just one example of why I try to only buy groceries in town.  Everything else I wait until I am out of town if I can…  This town is full of idiots working in retail…

I don’t go into Zellers a lot, but, when I do I find the people working on the tills to be pleasant, and very friendly.

Joined the real world have you? Almost all the main retailers charge 3-5c for bags. If you don’t like it, bring your own reusable bag. The Overwaitea here will even give you 10 pts if you use your own bags.
Like I’ve had to beat into the head of every single 16-25 yr old employee, rinse the bottle and put it in the recycle bin. It ain’t about the nickel.

They already do that infact… If you bring in a reusable mug you get $.10 off your coffee… It has been that way for quite awhile now.

In a lot of countries, Japan for one, recycling is mandatory, and expected and has been for a long time, ( Stardog Champion correct me if I’m wrong here ) Where if you do not recycle they simply do not pick up your garbage. North americans are spoiled and create on average waaaaay more garbage than the rest of the world combined. ( per capita at least ) Like the bumper sticker says, “if you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem.”

I know if I do not use our cloth bags when I shop my significant other will tear a strip off of me. I used to think they were a hassle, but they  do hold more groceries and do not bust open. And I am not left feeling guilty throwing out a huge wad of bags, which of course I meant to recycle.

lol… stupid people don’t see the reasoning behind the plastic charges

It’s not so mych the stupid, it’s the butt stubborn.
Listen to the wailing Yanks "I shouldn’t have to (change my lifestyle one bit)… these fees are soshulist enguneering… I shouldn’t have to PAY…"
Sometimes you have to kick people in the ass (or pocketbook) to make them stop pissing in the well.
