My iPhone 8+ had a very hard fall on concrete a while ago. Shortly afterwards it would randomly freeze up and behave oddly. I replaced the unit with Apple care+ and my replacement unit arrived today.
I was amazed at how well iCloud back-up works! All of my apps, pictures, contacts, etc. were restored. Very cool.
Yeah, it’s gotten pretty good recently.
We have a family iCloud account, where all 9 (!) iOS devices in the house share the same space, for backups, photos, etc.
It gets even better when you use iCloud Drive on macOS. You can share the same virtual desktop with your Macs, iPads and iPhones.

Bought a new iPad this spring and it loaded every damn thing from the old iPad. A hell of a lot easier than using cords and iTunes!
