Hitchhikers

Ok i seriously saw two hitchhikers on 4th and mcbride today…

OK.

Why don’t the RCMP or the highways place signs along the highway warning of the dangers?  They may not pay attention but it may stick in their heads before they stick out their thumbs.  It would be worth a try anyway.

I have stopped and spoke with a few female hitch hikers across from MacDonalds regarding the risk factor and at the same time advised the RCMP as well.

the city is looking at putting a billboard up at oliver late need needs to erect it

from what i understand (please correct me if I’m wrong)
You can get a ticket for picking up a hitch hiker, but you cant get a ticket for hitch hiking??  Wouldn’t it be easier to catch ppl the other way around??

No you don’t get a ticket AFAIK. They can give you a ticket for hitching on a freeway entrance ramp in the Mainland, or for stopping there and that’s it.
You’re talking to someone who’d be right pissed at turning back the clock to the 1950s and making it illegal.
You have the right to beg for a ride, just like begging for a dollar. You also have the right to give someone a ride if you wish.
You’re supposed to have the minimal brain capacity to realize that as a woman hitching alone it can be dangerous. That lost innocence sometime in the late 1970s and universally means “hooker looking for a date”.
You don’t go after criminals by punishing the general public and the (potential) victims.
