Forestry related activity on Haida Gwaii will be significantly less than usual as Western Forest Products announced a reduction in production for the summer months due to weak markets on June 19.
“We are curtailing a number of our operations, of which the Queen Charlotte Islands operations is one. The reduction will be largely in July and we anticipate it will affect approximately 140 contractors we work with…It is a fair level of reduction in our operations, and is about a 50 per cent reduction in what we typically do during the summer months,â€
