Guy On bridge

I just heard the cops scanner walkie talkie thing about the guy on the bridge… It was desturbing to listen to. He wanted to speak to his wife but the cop said he somthing like "you have to promiss not to hurt yourself and we will get your wife(x) Then they were like “he jump” “he JUmp”

Well the RCMP weren’t going to bring his estranged wife down to that situation. They promised over and over again that they would bring her to see him if he got off the bridge, and they were talking to him for close to an hour before he jumped.

Anyone know if we have any RCMP that specialize in negotiating? I’m guessing that there is probably a couple in the region, but most likely none in Rupert.

I recorded the police scanner !

Do you feel special ?

You have a police scanner?

Doesn’t everybody?

No, I do not have a scanner. I have problems of my own to think about, nevermind listening to someone elses’. We wouldn’t be human if we were perfect.
I don’t think we should be talking about people’s private lives on here either. It isn’t anyone’s business but theirs’.

Wow where can i get one?

I overheard my parents talking about this the other night and I guess the guy jumped just as his wife arrived at the bridge. With something like that, it makes me wonder if he had the intention of having her see it.

Hopefully this will be dropped soon, though, as an above person mentioned, it’s their own problem and we shouldn’t be in their business.

:unamused: if you hear the scanner they say they dont want her at the scene… and not to bring her to teh scene not to mention only an idiot would let her come ot the scene since that would just aggrevate the situation…

Rumor, didn’t happen. That’s just not the kind of situation you bring other people into.

You’re asolutely right tootz it isn’t anyone elses business. These are not ananymous nameless people, read the obits in the daily snooze tonight, both father and son are personal friends of mine. If your interested there’s a funeral service at annunciation church thurs. Mar 10th so if you don’t want to pay your respects at least show a little respect and find something else to talk about!

You know i belive its not right to talk about peoples buisness here, But you know this is a Internet fourm if you dont like it, dont post… Basically if it was that bad, it would be locked or deleated… Honestly i think this fourm has the ability for alot of people to reilize life and how lucky we are.

I think i made no sense.

This is all just a bunch of gossip that you would hear in a group of friends conversing. It’s just on the internet.

I don’t think you guys should even bother to talk about what happend though. I know if I was the father and I read this I would be pretty upset.’

Not saying you guys are bad but you just gotta put yourself in other people’s shoes.

Honestly, spreading honesty isn’t what’s making things worse. It’s the people on the street that are spreading the most ridiculous rumours that are making the situation worse. If I was in the same situation, and I’ve been in a pretty similar one involving a family member, I’d want to clear things up and get the truth out there rather than let people speculate about what happened.

I hate to use this as an after-school special kinda message, but I hope someone learns something from this, in a positive note. Get the people the help they deserve before it’s too late.

I agree with smartass, I’ve heard some ridiculous things from people in my day to day life and they seem so careless… even if what they were saying is true its none of anyones business. I hate how rupert is so nosey, I’ve lived in another small town before and the gossip was never as bad as it is here. I do hope atleast a few people get a positive outlook from all of this.

Firstly, please ignore my avitar while reading my entry. When I initially saw this board and wanted to join, I had to think of a username and photo before registering. Since the little guy was on my desktop, “Little Rupert” was born.

Personally, and I say that word wisely, I have drawn my own conclusion after reading this thread and listening to public chatter around town. Prince Rupert may appear to some as having a big mouth, but you will never find a community as close-knit and family-oriented as this one. If some listeners were savvy enough to determine fact from fiction at the onset there would be far less rumours.

This chat board is a public area of the internet towhich all can access with ease. I admire the subject of this topical thread and the responses it has captured, including all sides of the debate… if that is what its turning into. It takes a strong person to voice their personal opinions for all to see, but it takes a stronger person to simply hit that back button if a topic is found to be offensive to them. An example of that would be like “child porn”. I personal HATE all ideas related to child porn -AND- you wont find me posting to child porn sites. Its the internet folks and it aint going to go away overnight.

Getting back to the subject regarding the ‘guy’ who hung himself, personally I do not know him nor his father. However, ANYONE who even CONSIDERS this type of barbarick activity, must have had serious problems or mental disorders and needed help. While this forum may not be viewed as a ‘help’ forum, surely the majority here would use this as an example to pass along to their family, friends and loved ones BEFORE its too late, as in the ‘guy’ who took his life. Do I feel sorry for the grieving family? You bet your ass I do. Nothing is more devastating than having to bury a family member then find ‘chatter’ about the events which lead to the demise in every nook and cranny.

While our Charter of Rights allows us to speak freely, I have learned that I can also agree to disagree. After all, it is the internet.

May the ‘guy’ finally rest in peace.
