If I say sweet action movies, what comes to mind?
bill and ted’s excellent adventure
or point break
In no particular order:
True Lies
Terminator 2 and 3
Die Hard 1, 2, and 3
The Fugitive
Kill Bill 1 and 2
Indiana Jones 1, 2, and 3
Enough sequels for you?
Platoon
Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner
Die Hard
Terminator
Ronin
Mission Impossible
Casino Royale
All this came to mind within 10 seconds
All four Alien movies
The Usual Suspects
True Lies
The Italian Job
Ocean’s Eleven
Matrix Trilogy
Star Wars (all 6 of varying likeness levels)
All 3 Rambo movies.
Bourne Identity/Supremacy – I love spy movies
Spy Game – See above
Aliens/Alien Ressurection – Cool effects, great action, thrilling storyline
The Usual Suspects – Kevin Spacey rocks, and the script was extremely well written
Die Hard – Just good solid action with plenty of comic relief
Sin City – Needs no explanation
Kill Bill 1&2 (1 more than 2 though) – Bikes, babes, swords, Japanese stuff, anime, Lucy Liu…
From Dusk Till Dawn – great road movie, and Cheech Marin in three different roles.
Heat – Al Pacino + Robert DeNiro = a rockin movie. And Val Kilmer didn’t ruin it either.
The Fugitive – Kimble: “I didn’t kill my wife!” Gerard: “I don’t care!” Everything done just right.
I also liked Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, mostly because it was so campy. Campy can be fun sometimes. And it had motorcycles. I like just about anything with motorcycles.
I honestly wouldn’t consider Apocalypse Now to be an action movie. Not in the classic sense anyhow. Although I suppose it’s forgivable considering you didn’t put any real thought into it.
As for me:
Reservoir Dogs
Dirty Harry
Bullitt
The French Connection
C’era una volta il West
Buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Il [while it was a western it did inspire many action films and others alike with Sergio Leones infamous use of camera angles]
Planet of the Apes [1968 version, obviously]
Sin City
Pulp Fiction
Predator
Total Recall
Any James Bond movie
Enter the Dragon (absolute classic)
