While the City considers a near million dollar deficit budget concern and keeps counting the mounting dollars that it costs to keep Watson Island operating in some fashion, life goes on at the hiring hall at city hall.

The City of Prince Rupert has just posted a job opportunity in the Recreation Department, where Michael Curnes, the Director of Recreation and Community Services, is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Recreation Centre Manager…

i have worked for the recreation department since i was 14 years old feb 1977
my first day of work in the 33 years i have been therei have seen many people
come and go and worked under several managers i can honestly say michael
curnes is worth his weight in gold he is a go getter he has saved the city a lot
of money by going out there and getting grants i have never seen a manager
so focused as he any one getting the chance to work for the recreation dept
will have a boss who will drive you to the top of your game the few years i have
left working for the dept i know we are going to see some real changes in our
services to the people of our great city the civic center is our pride and joy
and we should be proud of it.
