Even Mike Harcourt says what the hell

No April Fool’s prank this one, Mike Harcourt quits the NDP!

Former leader has a number of concerns including the Carole James coup and NDP flip flops.

Looks like the NDP has a few issues to sort out before it’ll be ready for prime time again.

I am not surprised in the least…the NDP is a mess, they don’t even know who or what they represent anymore.

Simply put: They are massively out of touch with British Columbian’s outside of Vancouver & Victoria.

Well… I mean they couldnt even defeat the most hated and corrupt government we’ve ever had in this province (possibly canada) so I’d say theres a few problems. We’re in desperate need of a new center-left party under a new banner.

Yes. It was Dix’s election to lose and he did so, spectacularly. His campaign manager gave him extremely poor advice. Take the high road during an election? Really? Dix had ample ammunition to go after Clark and he chose not to. I hope that Horgan gets the NDP nomination.
I am in an odd position in that I like the provincial NDP, but, I am less than enthusiastic about my MLA.

I think your position is not so unusual.

I honestly believe the Liberals would have won the election regardless of what Dix or the NDP did during the campaign. The pollsters had it all wrong, just like they did in Alberta and created IMO a false lead that the NDP never had and the media just went with it.

It was spectacularly hilarious to watch ALL of them wipe the egg off their face when the Liberals soundly defeated the NDP and even increased their lead from the previous election.

I totally agree. Unless the NDP can up with a spectacular economic plan the Liberals will win the next election as well. Regardless what pollsters and the media say.

We’re fucked unless we get an entirely new party without the NDP baggage and with a little more centrist policies. The NDP will never get elected, I hate the liberals but I’d never vote for them because they are just as corrupt.

A new party somewhere in the middle between north koreas social policies and greeces would be nice. I’d settle for a bit more socialist instead of the corporatist government we have now where any development is good development. I mean opening up our provincial parks to development? pretty bad policy there fuckwads.

The NDP are a joke.

You’re right. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years.

I suppose it’s a good thing you don’t vote.

I guess you must be a fan of Kim Jong-un’s haircut.

I honestly cannot say who I will vote for in 2015 and 2017. I am leaning towards Green or Liberal for the Federal election of 2015; I cannot support Cullen. For the 2017 Provincial election it will depend on who the NDP candidate is.

I will vote if theres someone worth voting for. I will not vote for a party just because i dont want the other one to win. In my opinion that is a much worse sin than obstaining from voting as it shows support for their policies when that may be very well the opposite of the truth.

The ruling party is counting on voter apathy. I admit that I have lost my way, but, I will always vote. In my opinion it is our civic duty to chart the course of our nation. Your vote matters, jesus.
I will stop pontificating now.

It wasnt apathy that prevented me from voting it was lack of a valid candidate from any party. I would rather my vote go uncounted than go towards supporting the ideals of someone i only voted for to keep the ruling party out. This past election no matter how it went we would have ended up with terrible governance.

A vote in support of the ndp, greens, liberals etc would mean i support their policies. I do not.

I will always vote even if I have to spoil my ballot which I have done a few times.
Maybe one day we will have someone change his name to “None of the Above” and run for office.

I would like to think our votes mean something. But it is only the illusion of democracy that wins when we take the few minutes to vote every four years. Once we have made our X on the ballot the powers take over and do pretty much whatever they want until our next opportunity to make another X.

Of course it is hard for us to do much when every single body part is crossed in hopes that the winning party’s promise of trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars will actually come true.

I really don’t care what Mike Harcourt has to say. It just diverts attention from the Liberals, its policies and actions which is where our focus should be until the members of the NDP sort themselves out which they may or may not do by the next election. If they do, then they might have a chance. And if they don’t, we can take solace in knowing exactly what we are getting when we re-elect the Liberals.

I wonder what would happen if they actually did include a “none of the above” option on our ballots. In the past few elections I probably would’ve opted for that over the people I did vote for.

Good news! Thanks for the link, PLA.
