The Marketplace episode was very interesting and informative. I had no idea how the provinces differ. I also had no idea that Pearlevision, Lenscrafters, Sears Optical and Sunglass Hut are owned by the same parent company who coincidentally own many of the luxury lines of frames. Plus I really did not know that a pair of lenses have a cost of between two and ten dollars to the opticians. I learned that in BC the PD measurement is supposed to be included in the prescription and I do know for a fact that the copy of my prescription from Dr. Barlow did not have that measurement. I can also say that someone that I know who got their prescription from Costco in PG did not have the PD measurement either. I’d like to hear if anyone has received a prescription with the PD measurement on it or if that is something that Optometrist’s are choosing to exclude so that it makes it less convenient for people to buy from online retailers.
