A dead body has been discovered at the Prince Rupert waterfront.

According to Cst. Matt Ericson of the Prince Rupert RCMP, the detachment received a call at 7:51 a.m. on March 4 alerting them to a deceased body near the old CN station at Rotary Waterfront Park. It is believed the person is male, but over an hour after the call came in the body was still in the water so no identification or investigation was possible.

Forensic specialists are on site, but Ericson said it is too early in the investigation to provide any additional details. An update is expected later this morning.

Look for more on this story as it develops.

How awful.

Hope no foul play was involved.

I was down there last night very scary indeed.

Condolences to the family & friends xoxo

Instead of having the RCMP standing around down there investigating , what is with those super cameras which are down in that area. Are they not supposed to capture them bad guys and protect our water front . Maybe Don K. won’t release the video .

What another silly comment coming from you.

If it’s a crime scene involving a dead body, what do you think the police are suppose to do?

I only know of 1 camera down there. Not even sure if it works.

I know that it involves a dead body but I was pointing out the so called cameras or camera , possibility if they are working would it maybe catch it on the video SIR . Speedy is right does it work ? Did not mean to take up your space SIR.

I heard rumours of foul play. Of course, it IS Prince Rupert. I would just like to know if it was, because I’ve never really felt the need for self defense other than fists; but that may be beginning to change.

You are implying that cameras should completely replace, not complement, physical thorough forensic investigations.

I don’t get your comment, do you think there is a serial killer there? Random murderer wandering around?

What is in the news story that makes you want to bear arms?

The Random murder or murders is the one selling Chemical Drugs in and around the community .

I know the “dead body found”…show some respect and sensitivity to the family…End this thread please.

The deceased is my nephew and I totally agree with Justin Case about the camera. Our families are devastated, and just want answers. My buddy and I were on this topic last night, even before I checked this site out this morning. Just wondering if the camera down the waterfront works or not. Time will tell and I hope the RCMP takes that in consideration to see if it caught anything.

There are 60 plus cameras along the waterfront, monitored 24/7,but guess what? There is a camera down at the old Mcmillan property and for over a long time they did not see the fellow who was working at removing the transformers .They are very good cameras by the way!!

My sincere condolences to your family and I hope there are some answers for you soon.

Yes these are very sad times for the young mans family and his loved ones , may I offer my condolences at this time. I do hope that these super cameras do the job and that they help the individuals and the investigation in putting it all together in solving yet another sad moment in all our lives.

Thanks for your condolences & input.

Very sorry for your loss.
