Citytel Internet problems? (10/26/06)

Anyone having any issues with thier internet connection over the last 24 hours? Since last night my connection has been seriously bad. I get weird pauses while sites load up, my DSL modem locks up, the DSL modem resets over and over… it’s just not working well at all. I did a tracert and came up with this:

I’m not sure what the timed out area’s represent since they are occuring both before it bounces out of Citytel and after it goes to Telus.

Why do you have your computer set to 192.168.0.1 ? that should be your gateway&dns not your main computer ip… Change it to 2 & ^

No Jason, the 192.168.0.1 is his router (the first jump on the traceroute).

OHHH

Are you using DMZ or is your computer not going through a router?

Citytel is having problems im on the phone with some one that is having problems.

And a Rickards Red says they didn’t wait five minutes and try again, they either immediately fucked with their settings then called you, or they immediately grabbed the phone and called because the e-mail from their sister or the porn search is extremely important and costing them money.
I just told our receptionist to change her spiel from try again in five minutes and call back if the problem is still there to ‘count to sixty five times and call back’.

My connection’s been fine all night, weird.

Well hopefully it clears up. I can’t hold a connection to teamspeak or while I play BF2142.

Mike

My connection seems fine.

My connection is terrible tonight. I’m on the “Premium” package and right now the speeds and ping times are literally almost identical to the early 1 meg DSL service CityTel was offering back in the Nortel modem days.

Not too shabby. That’s $159 mo. here from Telus…

ugh… mine just crawled along.

651 kbps down
514 kbps up

574 kbps up

Wish they would fix the problem already, this is ridiculas, nite after nite i suffer with these speeds for the past 3 months now.

yep the speed has been erratic too often hopefully when the fibre is finally up and running full ADSL will be closer to my 4.5 megs down then it has been lately and the pings to game servers in the US is very crappy spikes from 98 ping to as high as 200 in just one game server for most nights

Well they better get thier shit together before some other company like Telus or Rogers decides to offer similar services. I’m a pretty loyal customer but even I have limits on just how long I’ll go throwing money at a problem that never resolves itself.

Thankfully part of my problem seems to have been resolved by getting a new DSL modem.

How is the backbone served now in Rupert? If there’s no fiber to outside, they must be bundling all those surplus monkeywave links to support it.
Is there no fiber hung between Terrace and Rupert?

It is a fiber link from the top of the mountain, to citytel but from the mountain to the other link it is microwave.

They’re working on it.
