Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:

tends to be rather unfortunate characteristic of a lot of religions, some form of extremism, i guess you can get it with any form of beliefs, but yeah the whole discrimination against other people just pisses me off, you don’t like the way they’re living there lives? fine but piss off about it, no one wants to here a bunch of discrimanatory propaganda, i dunno, its pretty sad that people are that stupid an unwilling to accept differences, etc. I find it no different than racism, its just sickining.
Exactly anyone who does not share there visions or beleif system they hate, the christians show the facts themselves. We hate shrimp because it does not have fins thus it is an abombination unto you, what the hell is that crap ? Thats about as close mindedly stupid you can get with one group of people. I have no idea, maybe he hates them all equally but god couldn’t afford more than one domain on the subject of seacreatures with no fins is an abombination for you. Or maybe its because god got very ill after eating some shrimp and said…“I cast upon thee shrimp to be hated for all time”. And if you eat shrimp and are allergic to shrimp you are not under the gods protection when you eat shrimp. So many theories but in the end its best to be athiest
One must separate two issues here: The religious right trying to take over the government of the USA and christianity as a whole.
Christianity, like other religions, has some good basic values that help people figure out differences between good and bad. The way you paint all christians with the same brush is similar to saying that all muslims like to decapitate people. In Christianity, as in other religion, there is a spectrum of ways people express their faith. Unfortunately, some people’s way is to forget the original message of love and use the hate word more often. I think these people are seriously sick.
I am sure that most of the pics you posted can be traced back to a southern reverend (whom I forgot the name) who has been doing this kind of things with his followers for a long time. He is the one that said something about Canada being like hell because we allow same sex marriages in some provinces. I think he even burnt a Canadian flag.

I apologize if I may have stated that I think religion is taking over the american government, that is not true but it is more less just having a man as awful as george bush who I have no doubts is a extreme christian in office. George bush doesn’t like iraq for possible various reasons like he wants their oil, he is a strong beleiver of christianity and all of their morals and the iraqis do not share those morals, etc.
I’m sure not all christians are indeed as hateful as most of the ones in the pictures, but the ones that are so hateful definatly leave you with the impression that maybe all christians are indeed as close minded as we are lead to ‘beleive’
Don’t apologize for that because you are right. The religious right is an extremely strong lobby in the states and they are the ones that re-elected Bush.
That’s why you yourself have to be open-minded and not generalize about christians or muslims or anyone else. If I may share some personal experience, my parents are church-going christians and they are not hateful people. They don’t agree with some of points of view like abortion but they absolutely don’t respect extreme anti-abortionists who stalk and harass doctors. They probably don’t understand and agree with homosexual lifestyle but one of their favorite and most respected relative is a gay man and they know about it.
So you see, it would be simple if everything was black and white but it isn’t. The world is colorful so nuance is a must.
And how sad it is, watching CNN and them showing the major uprise in lost jobs, and a graph showing the state of happiness or normality in america was higher before George Bushes first term. Definatly is odd how ignorant jesusland really is
Than your parents would infact be “True Christians”, I’m mostly talking about the extremist christians in this discussion though. Maybe I’ve been a bit to critical in saying that all christians are as extreme as “JESUSLAND” is, there are indeed true christians out there I am sure and most of them I’ve had the chance to meet in this small town. Unfortunatly there is always the christian group that seemd to beleive that bombing iraq is the right thing to do because George Bush says so and these are the groups I am mostly speaking of.

The really ironic thing about the US government is the idea of ‘seperation of church and state’. In the US they are so supposudly worried about this that they are removing all religous symbols from any government building. Yet at the same time basing major national and international decisions on religous ideals. I think thats what the statement was intended to prevent, not the presense of symbols in government buildings. It’s pretty ridiculous really. They’re supposedly following the letter of the law and definately ignoring the intent of it.
