“Couple on their way home to Prince Rupert die in car accident on Highway 16”

Houston RCMP say foggy and icy road conditions played a factor in this tragic incident where the couple’s SUV collided with a pickup truck.
The accident happened on Highway 16 about 18 km west of Houston at about 10 p.m.
When police arrived they learned that the Ford pickup truck was travelling eastbound when the SUV travelling westbound started spinning and lost control. Subsequently, the truck T-Boned the SUV as it spun into the oncoming eastbound lane.
The local Fire Department and BC ambulance services were also called. The couple were pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants in the pickup truck were transported to the Bulkley Valley District Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Highway was closed for a number of hours as the scene was investigated by a Collision analyst and Smithers Traffic Services. It has since been reopened.[/quote]
