After you Shovel the Snow- CHSS Parent Advisory Council

The Charles Hays Parent Advisory Council is looking for more parents and guardians to come in out of this weather. Their meeting will be tonight, November 20th, 2013, at 7pm in the library of CHSS. ( The next meeting will be late January)

The biggest success of 2012-2013, according to Kathleen Palm, the chair, was the twenty scholarships given for students to complete their Food Safe Certification through Hecate Strait Employment. All students passed and three achieved 100%. The students signed up for and attended the course even though it was late in the school year and finals were looming.

It is exactly this success parents are hoping for this year: first aid, pleasure craft operators certificate or driver education may be sponsored. However without parents to vote and an executive willing to take on the financial responsibility, it will be impossible.

Within the priority guidelines previously set by parent surveys, more monies were spent to support the school. The PAC sponsored free swims and gave the basketball team money for travel. Further, two raffles were sponsored by the PAC for basketball and the grads. Those groups were able to raise thousands of dollars for their goals.

The financial books are in order and with committed support from the District Parent Advisory Committee and the school administration, success is again possible.

Please attend speak up for your students.
