49% of the worlds population

If 49% of the world’s population consumed the same amount of oil as every Canadian citizen that 49% would consume 230 million barrels of oil per day. Today the whole world consumes 80 million barrels of oil per day.  Canada’s population is 33 million and consumes 2.3 million barrels per day (0.0696 per citizen). Total world population 6.7 billion. Would that constitute global scorching? If China’s 1.3 billion people consumed the same as Canada they would go through 90 million barrels a day. Think something’s gotta change?

Note: On another thread I used 5 year old figures from an old HD for world consumption and US consumption, when the US was increasing their reserves. The above ones are fresh and easily confirmed.

Yeah topic.

Um, it’s dang cold up here, and there are hundreds of kilometres between major centres.  Canada is also a large manufacturer of plastics made from petrol.

I think you have way too much time on your hands…

Fair enough, lets look at the USA. They have a population of 300 million and consume 20 million barrels of oil per day. That is 0.0666  per citizen. Lets take a 49% pop figure.
219 million barrels a day if 49% of the worlds population used the same amount as every US citizen.

I hate this Dex…I feel like I am back in school and math. was my worst subject…If a train was travelling at 90MPH and there were 45 passengers and they had hotdogs for lunch and peed at 6:30PM, what time would it collide with the train heading eastbound at 92MPH and don’t forget to show your work…OMG, what a flashback, I have a tummyache (just like in school ! )

I don’t the answer to that except that it was after 6:30 PM. But I do know what Freud would say about the hotdog and peeing part…

BTW Mac’s sister will be up the middle of July.

Imgur

I’d have to look up what Freud would say about that  :astonished:

Oops Forgot… The math is simple and you can use google if you like. if 300 million people use 20 million barrrels of oil go to Google and type:  20 million divided by 300 million . That should return 0.0666 . That is the per person amount.  49% of 6.7 billion people is around 3.3 billion. So go to google and type, 3.3 billion x 0.0666  then poof you’ll get your answer.

I feel the same way about this thread, TR.

Speechless? It’s understandable when one considers that less than half the world can have our standard of living. The world oil producers would have serious problems coming up with 90 million barrels of oil let alone 230 million. Then the impact to the environment that 230 million per barrels of oil per day would do to this earth. LOL, and that wouldn’t even give half the world our living standards. Speechless indeed!!!

Hey Dex…If I am going to Google anything, it certainly won’t be math related and I have more to do with my time, well, most of the time anyway… What were you doing up past your bedtime anyway ?

Justin, Johnny, and I were havn’ drinks and aaahhhh watchn’ movies, yeah.

That is a lot of fries consumed by Canadians.  WOW! :astonished:
