$30 Million Condo/Hotel Complex planned for downtown PR

You sniff way too much MEK…

People who complain about this glimmer of hope sniffed way too much MEK.

its good news to the few that can afford to live there… the people i see at large will not benefit there is enough over priced housing in town as it is… many of which are rental dumps
this does fill a void for the elite …

The elite will enjoy but the city really needs to seriously look at a home less shelter something better than few rooms at Raffles…

I’m pretty sure the condo/hotel the “elites” will live in will benefit the city’s grim financial situation, which hopefully offer some glimmer of hope to the less fortunate.

It just means we will be more like the big cities … better housing for the elite and more need for increased home less shelter space…

Our average house is about 1/2 the Canadian average,(about 200k here, around 400 nationwide)Get ready for a reality check if you think the prices are high now.
Ozzie Jurock was doing a thing on the highest and lowest rental prices in BC, and he used Prince Rupert because it was the lowest place he found in his research.
There will always be people here that will do well and people who will never do well no matter how much this town booms.

Boom is a myth to those in the fringes… most that go on this thread are unaware of the realities of the poor and the lack of services… It is understandable that this is the case… and taxes here on property I am told are some of the highest in BC…

Are you kidding me? These “elite” will be here to work in the development of industry in out town. Forget this complex itself. Think of why its being built. Other than the casino what was the last thing built in the downtown core? We need development to provide tax revenue to the city to get shit done and to provide relief to the rest of us. Who cares about it being over a rail yard or where the drunks hang out…that’s their problem. These people bring money that we badly need.

Facepalm

Kinda makes a nice “elitist” house on Graham a better deal than a puny 2 bed townhouse in a crappy new development in The-Middle-Of-No-Where, Alberta. O_o

One more good thing: At least the development is not a new suburban neighbourhood involving destroying vast amounts of cherished nature.

I thought campotex was going out on Ridley not downtown. I don’t this this is a good place for it.

What are you talking about ????

lot of the poor or unfortunate people only have their selves to blame for poor choices in life . sometimes it takes a bit of motivation to get up get a job which i think there is plenty of right now. some people just are not employable . yea sure it sounds harsh but its the bitter truth.

there is huge opportunities in the northwest right now for a driven person who wants it.

What you hearing or reading. Who is your source lol ?

Agreed…when the Road Rail Utility project on Ridley Island can’t find local workers to fill their 90+ jobs , you have a clear case of “lazy” happening around this city. And yet people bitch that this city has “no jobs”…try and explain that one.

People just don’t want to go out there and do the training. Most of the people would even have funding for this training
