1.2% Tax increase defeated by council

The 1.2% tax increase that was proposed at last weeks council meeting (and recieved a 4-2 vote by council in support) was voted down by council last night (3-3 tie). The mayor sided with councillors Ashley and Kinney on the no side, while councillors Cunningham/Garon & Thorkelson voted yes to the tax increase. Previous yes voting councillor Carlick-Pearson was absent, which is why the final vote ended in a tie. Council will now have to come together again to find a solution to the budget issue.
